Ynon Kreiz Named Co-CEO of Paramount-WBD Merger Entity
David Ellison taps departing Mattel chief Ynon Kreiz to co-lead the expected combination of Paramount and Warner Bros. Discovery.
Paramount CEO David Ellison has selected Ynon Kreiz, the outgoing chief executive of Mattel, to serve as co-CEO of the anticipated merged company combining Paramount Global and Warner Bros. Discovery, according to an announcement from Ellison.
Kreiz is set to share the top leadership role as the two major media companies work toward completing their combination, a deal that would reshape the competitive landscape of the streaming and entertainment industry. Ellison, who leads Skydance Media and has been at the center of Paramount's recent ownership changes, would presumably hold the other co-CEO position in the new structure.

The selection of Kreiz signals an effort to bring in an executive with experience leading a major consumer brand through transformation. Kreiz oversaw Mattel during a period of significant reinvention for the toymaker, most notably the global blockbuster success of the "Barbie" film. His background spans both media and consumer products, having previously served as chairman and CEO of Maker Studios.
The Paramount-Warner Bros. Discovery combination, if completed, would create one of the largest entertainment conglomerates in the United States, pooling assets that include CBS, MTV, HBO, CNN, and Warner Bros. film studios. The merged entity would face intensifying competition from streaming giants such as Netflix and Disney+ as traditional media companies grapple with cord-cutting and shifting viewer habits.
